The Foundation
We start with heavy, dense Melton wool sourced from historic mills that have operated for over a century. The wool is blended with fine alpaca hair to give a rich, tactile sepia sepia-toned finish, providing maximum thickness and stability for chain-stitch backing.
The Embroidery
Using original hand-cranked Singer embroidery machines from the 1920s, our master stitchers guide the yarn in a looping, multi-dimensional pattern. This technique creates a textured, raised "chenille" surface that is impossible to replicate with modern digital looms.
The Gilt Cresting
For sovereign milestone markings, we utilize authentic 24-karat gold bullion wire. The metallic thread is coiled and carefully hand-sewn onto the felt perimeter, giving each shield, crest, or crown its timeless, glowing nobility.
The Digital Aura
During final backing assembly, an ultra-thin, passive NFC micro-transponder is laminated between the layers of Melton wool. The transponder is registered to the society ledger, signing the specific weave density and provenance hash onto our cryptographic timeline.
